My Current Favorite Quotes to a Joyful Life

I say current because I'm kind of a quote junkie... I love words. I love motivation. I love trying to be the best person I can be. I don't like going through life knowing I could do more, act more, and see more. I want life to be the best it can be and that all starts with what I do, say, and choose to think and see. So without further ado, these are the quotes that have stood out to me for the past week or so, which means the ones that I am currently focused on incorporating into my life. I hope these words help you as much as they have helped/are helping me!

These two quotes really spoke to me. Life is all about perspective. And luckily, WE HAVE CONTROL OVER OUR PERSPECTIVE. Also, we can do anything! The "mountain" really isn't all that hard/intimidating, we make it seem that way through many factors: being unprepared/not going with God's timing, having a negative attitude, or simply seeing things not as they actually are to name a few.

Do not let your feelings dictate your life. Look at how you should look at things (how God would want you to see things). I like to assume my feelings are from the devil, all of them at first. Then I think about God's perspective, if it has anything to do with hurt, hatred, or general negativity, it's most likely the devil trying to deceive you and you should ignore it and make yourself believe differently. If it's a loving, thankful, happy feeling, it's from God and how he wants you to feel. At the beginning, it's hard to control your feelings, your mind is like a muscle, the more you actively control it, the stronger and easier it gets. You don't have to feel bad, which leads to a bad attitude, treating people bad, and a bad day/life. You have control over that too! Choose to have positive feelings and a positive mind even when it doesn't come naturally.

This goes back to the previous one. Feelings, moods, circumstances are all fickle and leading a life based on these things will make for an emotional roller coaster of a life and that's not an easy life. Have faith, make yourself believe/think how God wants you to. Keep faith, always.

This too shall pass. Once again, fickle, ever changing. You choose, you control.

We talk so much about what we hate. What we talk about is directly related to how we think and then how we act. Be mindful, be aware.

Keep this in mind throughout your day. Once you realize what irritates you about other people, find out what makes you think it's so irritating and change it. Don't take your personal issues out on other people and ruin their day with it.

The same goes when other people take their issues out on you. Just move on, it's their personal problems that are making them say negative things to you, it's not you! Don't let people dictate how you think about yourself. Let God dictate that, the ever forgiving God that wants the absolute best for you.

All my words are credited to Joyce Meyer, who has translated the word of God in a way that applies to every day life. And I have just translated the words she gave me. Click here if you would like the direct translation.

Dream Apartment entirely from Target | Part 1 | Living Room

Publishing this as my first post seems a little odd for me. It's not a topic that will frequent my blog thus, it seems a little misleading. I will admit that this post is purely out of convenience. I have been looking for inexpensive, yet beautiful apartment furnishing and decor for quit a while and discovered Targets mecca of stunning home goods! So I've had a word document outlining everything you see here for quit a while. While I cannot vouch for the quality, I can say that if your style is the same as mine and you're on a budget, then look no more. Enjoy the beauty your eyes are about to take in.

Living Room

This couch and loveseat are absolutely stunning. While my dream home would require starch white instead of the light grey, an apartment should be more functional due to the living room not being a "traditional" living room, but the common area. However, this light grey remains beautiful along with its dark wood accents. The curve in the arms gives the couch a classic touch while the sharp edges keep the set looking modern.

This is where I'm able to incorporate my love for white, but in a more functional, yet cozy cream color. I also splash in a beautiful gold accent. This combination is so lovely.

I just love the dark wood and metallic combination in the remaining furniture and decor! I don't mind mixing dark chocolate and black furniture with the TV stand and end tables. And the french doors on that TV stand? Swoon! The lamp stand would pair perfectly with a white or black shade and the round tiled mirror would be perfect above the couch. Finally, what's a living room without family photos and a clock?

As this post is becoming a bit lengthy, stay tuned for Part 2 | Dining Room & Kitchen and Part 3 | Bedroom & Bathroom.

About Me

My name is Kristen. I am a nutrition & kinesiology student, so I obviously love all things food & fitness. I'm specifically interested in how a plant-based diet prevents & treats chronic diseases. I also enjoy holistic medicine such as herbs & teas. I participate in yoga, pilates, & strength training exercises. I live for the Lord and my favorite guide in living his way is Joyce Meyer. I love all things mental health & wellness. I'm a little to addicted too pinterest (aren't we all?) as well as classic, timeless beauty & style (of course, my style icon is Kate Middleton). My dream home is entirely white with black, silver, & gold accents lined with french doors & windows. I have a Norfolk Terrier & he is the love of my life. When I'm feeling adventurous, I enjoy live music & traveling. The beach is my ideal paradise. I have a love affair with chunky sweaters & Pinot Noir & I enjoy the faint flicker of a burning candle in a dim room.
